Padfield leather is 100% tanned in Somerset England. The majority of Padfield hides originate from British beef and dairy farming. The United Kingdom has a long proud history of pastoral farming. At Padfield we believe that whilst cattle are being farmed in Britain the most responsible and sustainable option is to source local hides that might otherwise go to waste.
Leather bags can often be unnecessarily heavy. At Padfield we solved this by slightly reducing the leather thickness to achieve a lighter weight with the same excellent natural qualities. With durability in mind, during tanning Padfield leather is treated with a water resistant technology that helps repel water. We believe that small thoughtful changes add up to make better accessories.
Padfield Pebble Grain Leather
Padfield’s Pebble Grain leather is a top-grain water resistant leather. It has a rich even colour and a beautiful even grain finish. Dyed entirely through the hide Padfield Pebble Grain leather will not show scratches as easily as surface tanned leather. Chosen for its durable quality and timeless look Padfield Pebble Grain leather ages gracefully and gently softens over time with frequent use.
Padfield Embossed Nubuck Leather
With a soft handle Padfield grey embossed Nubuck leather has a beautiful distinct texture reminiscent of shagreen. This stunning tonal leather makes every accessory made from it unique.
Padfield Grey Smooth Leather
Padfield grey leather tote bags and accessories are lined with smooth grey leather. As with all Padfield leather this lining leather is tanned all the way through to help reduce the appearance of surface scratches.
Padfield Suede Leather
We say be bold, make a statement. Padfield suede leather linings were chosen for their rich colour, durability, and beautiful soft hand-feel. Lining the majority of Padfield accessories this British suede leather injects timeless understated accessories with intense saturated colour. Undeniably luxurious.
Caring for your Padfield
As a natural material the leather will change over time and use. You can help to protect and prolong the life of your leather accessories by:
Applying a leather nano protector spray can help protect the leather (always carry out a patch test in a discreet area first)
If the leather becomes wet wipe dry with a soft cloth and leave to dry naturally
Try avoid excessive exposure to direct sunlight when not in use
Store your Padfield accessory in the cotton dust bag provided when not in use
General Colour Care Advice
This advice is not specific to Padfield, however we do recommend that you consider the qualities of coloured materials when deciding how to use your leather accessories. As a dyed material darker colour leathers can transfer colour to lighter colour materials. Fabrics, such as denim, can also transfer colour on to lighter leathers. As suede leather is more susceptible to transferring colour it is recommended that you do not place lighter colour materials inside suede lined accessories. Please note that as colour transfer between coloured materials is a known quality of these materials, Padfield cannot be held responsibility for any damage caused due to colour transfers of any kind.
